The Basics of Phone System Programming
Programming the cheap voicemail system you might find at the local consumer electronics store takes a quick read of a 4-page instructional manual. But
that's no comparison to the type of phone system programming that a business with a state of the art phone system needs.
Today's modern phone system can only be programmed by technical experts who understand the language and inner workings of business phone systems.
The technicians at iTelNet are capable of the two stages of phone system programming. The first stage is all of the
Atlanta cabling and wiring. This can include setting up the system on a backboard, getting power to it, perhaps with a backup power generator, and of course connecting the system to your
small business
DSL, the very powerful and fast fiber
ring, or however your business connects to the local Atlanta business phone
service. The second stage of phone system programming involves our technician working with your system at your location to set up extensions, voicemails, etc.
iTelNet has technicians who can help you not only with phone system programming, but also get you the best price on a new or refurbished system or
voice over IP
system, and even provide your monthly phone and internet access. Call us today at 1-800-677-0836 and speak with a telecom executive.

Phone System Installation Services and Terminology
iTelNet has relationships with Vodavi Star Plus, Avaya, Nortel, and Allworks that allow us to sell and install each of these
company's fine business phone systems. We'll set up your lines to ring at specific phones
("stations" is the technical term for phones in this respect).
We'll set up an employee directory on your business phone system.
We'll customize stations to ring on certain lines. We'll even determine what lines forward to different numbers. All of these services are done from one of the stations though there is usually a master phone / station on your business phone system.

| All business phone systems have a KSU, the actual brain of the system.
It's what takes the programming and processes it. Systems have amphenol blocks and cables, which are what you connect stations to the KSU with. Assuming you connect to the internet with a
T1, the most common type of phone service and internet access for the small or medium business, there will be an interface at the smart jack. A single pair goes from Ad Tran to the T1. The Ad Tran determines how many voice and data channels are on the T1. It can be 24 channels, 12 channels, etc. The T1 goes into a channel bank for voice lines (to amphenol blocks to
KSU). Data goes out of the router and/or switch for your internet connection. The KSU acts as your main switchboard as well. |
